This story takes place during Secret Wars, when Earth-616 collided with Earth-1610, giving rise to Battleworld, a patchwork planet ruled by Doctor Doom. Battleworld was made up of territories governed by different rulers, each hosting characters from various universes. Within these boundaries lies the city where Peter, Mary Jane, and Annie—versions from other realities—live their lives.
