This story includes many elements from the Ultimate Spider-Man series. To get the most out of it, I recommend reading Brian Michael Bendis' Ultimate Spider-Man run with Peter Parker, as well as his run with Miles Morales.
But personally, I don't think it's necessary to read it. Just keep in mind that during this arc, Peter from the Ultimate universe is dead.
