Comments & Additional Info
I had no idea who the Hobgoblin was before reading Roger Stern’s era, and to be honest, I now prefer him over the Green Goblin. You’ll understand why once you dive into these stories. What’s fascinating about the character is the behind-the-scenes drama surrounding his true identity—Stern had a plan for who he wanted under the mask, but when he left, Tom DeFalco took over and, with Stern’s blessing, intended to make Richard Fisk (Kingpin’s son) the Hobgoblin. However, editor Jim Owsley threw a curveball just to mess with DeFalco, forcing a different reveal altogether...
Beyond Hobgoblin, Stern also brought back Black Cat, delivering some of her best stories, including a romantic arc that led Peter to drop out of college—one of the biggest shake-ups in his life at the time.
